Why is PE important?

PE sports are so important for your kids. Keeping active is key for a physically and mentally healthy lifestyle. It's recommended that children get at least 60 minutes of exercise each day, so making sure your PE lessons are fun, engaging and active is a key way of helping kids achieve this.

The 2014 PE national curriculum expects that at KS1 children will be able to:

  • develop fundamental movement skills;
  • become increasingly competent and confident;
  • have access to a broad range of opportunities to extend their agility, balance and coordination both individually and with others;
  • engage in competitive and co-operative physical activities, in a range of increasingly challenging situations;
  • master basic movements including running, jumping, throwing and catching;
  • develop balance, agility and co-ordination, and begin to apply these in a range of activities;
  • participate in team games, developing simple tactics for attacking and defending; and
  • perform dances using simple movement patterns.

Our Year 2 and Year 1 PE games are perfect for keeping your children active and having fun. Physical activity can help kids develop their motor skills, hand-eye coordination and reflexes too!
